Buildings may change but the legacy lives on!

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Cornish philanthropist John Passmore Edwards you are invited to be part of a giant book chain linking The Ladder in Clinton Road with the new Redruth Library in Alma Place. The Passmore Edwards building was donated to Redruth as a community cultural space and housed the former Redruth Library. We want to show how Passmore Edwards’ legacy has been sustained over the years and the library element has continued in new premises, while The Ladder is being restored and given new life.

Big Book Chat: The event will start at The Ladder with a Big Book Chat. Bring your favourite book (a classic or your most recent read), chat with others over a cream tea and meet the giant puppets of Mr and Mrs Passmore Edwards. Then join the human chain to The Library where there will be special stories for young and old.

11.00 – 11.30 Book and Human Chain

13.00 – 15.00 Shallal Sketchbooks/Pop-up at The Ladder
