Skating Through Life


To feel the burn in my lungs
Is a pain I feel I admire.
To fly does not necessarily mean
To be airborn I guess.

I’m on my knees but I’ll get up I hope, or
Maybe I’ll just lie here and wait till the…

It’s the only way I feel I can rebel, away from the
Giant mosh pit this world is sadly becoming.
I can spin, I can turn and then I can ride away.
Away from all of IT. All of the…

I can’t say what I want to say because
There are no words to explain, only my board to express
How I feel and how I think I could skate
My way till the end of life.

    Have only discovered this website, & “Skating through Life” is a great poem. As an ex-nurse, but also as someone suffering with chronic & severe depression, I really can relate to it—-from both sides of the fence too.
