Ten things found in a jilted lover’s chest

rule

The feel of his hand holding mine
Our first kiss – at dusk, in a car park
The taste of Italy in summer
And the smell of sun upon our skin
A pebble from a Cornish beach
With I love you written in felt pen
Stale tobacco – why did he have to smoke?
An unworn tie I gave him for Christmas
Tangled up with unconvincing lies,
The pain of the very last text
And a list of ways I could kill him.
