The Curious Writer is a series of Digital Creative Writing workshops for schools and Home Educators specifically for KS2 and KS3.

The Curious Writer encourages imaginative and confident storytelling through a series of guided exercises and activities delivered by video, to combine with and complement classroom learning.
- Workshop 1 Story Starters – A series of activities led by novelist, travel writer and literacy expert Wyl Menmuir, providing the tools to build character and create settings using pictures, props and soundscapes. Workshops for KS2 and KS3 available.
- Workshop 2 Descriptive Writing – Annamaria Murphy (Kneehigh, Radio 4 & an inspiring workshop leader) focusses on developing descriptive writing and vocabulary using colour, sound and metaphor. Suitable for KS2.
- Workshop 3 The Curious Writer Outdoors – a set of three short videos to watch in preparation for a visit to The Beach, The Woods or The Street. Led by Annamaria Murphy and Wyl Menmuir, the writers model how they observe their surroundings and use them as inspiration for creative writing. Suitable for KS2 and lower KS3.
All the above include comprehensive Teacher’s Notes to guide you through the workshops with extra ideas and suggestions to help you get the most from the sessions, as well as deliver against curriculum learning objectives and outcomes. They can be used with a whole class, small groups, or for one to one sessions.
All students really loved the workshops and worked really well through the videos presented. They loved the different techniques for approaching writing and the opportunity to be really creative and imaginative.
