‘Owdyado Theatre love twisted tales. Compelling stories, often dark in tone, that draw the audience in then thrill them with an unexpected plot twist! (‘Owdyado are big fans The Twilight Zone and Inside No.9, both of which have influenced our most recent stage work).

Writing Twisted Tales is a three-day course held at The Writers Block over the 28th, 29th June & 1st July (10-4pm) for people interested in developing their writing for the stage.

In this workshop (delivered by co Artistic Director Charlotte Bister), you will learn about structures and techniques for writing exciting short dramas, as well as tips for generating ideas, creating character and exercises to get your words flowing. We will work towards producing your own 5-minute piece, and on the final day of the workshop you will have the chance to hear your work-in-progress read by professional actors.

This workshop is free and is open to emerging writers based in Cornwall aged 18 or over.

To apply, please email us a short extract of (max 5 pages) something creative you have written (ideally a piece of drama) and a cover letter explaining why you would like to do this course. Email address: [email protected]

These workshops are supported by The Writer’s Block and The Minack Theatre.  Dependent on further funding (TBC), an additional outcome of this course may be a commission and mentoring package available to one writer, to create one short original play for ‘Owdyado Theatre.

‘Owdyado Theatre is a new-writing touring theatre company and an associate artist of Hall For Cornwall. For more information on the company please visit www.owdyado.co.uk
