Dan Sutcliffe
Carpenter Dan Sutcliffe has brought the magic back to The Writers’ Block through expertly crafting a space of wonder, discovery, and immersion with the new Cabinet of Curiosities.
Brimming with intriguing objects, hidden writing nooks, and untold stories, the Cabinet of Curiosities invites visitors to The Writers’ Block to lose themselves in a world where imagination takes centre stage.
This cabinet has been built entirely from salvaged materials — second-hand furniture and lighting elements from our previous installation have been reimagined and reassembled. Inspired by the wardrobes from the previous version of The Writers’ Block, Dan used his creativity to transform the wardrobes into a immersive space, complete with writing nooks and hidden corners.
True to its name, the Cabinet of Curiosities is brimming with the strange and the wonderful. Inside, you’ll find curious artifacts, tucked-away writing nooks, beloved old books, and subtle hints of a larger story — one that’s still being written. The cabinet will continue to gather strange relics, favourite books, and quiet hints of a story waiting to be discovered.
