Our projects celebrate community stories, creativity, and the power of connection across generations. By collaborating with local organisations, schools, and emerging writers, we aim to give people a voice and share their stories.

Imagine

Collecting and showcasing stories from Cornwall’s global majority community.

The Writers’ Block, in collaboration with Bev Bevington of Cocobean Cornwall, is collecting and celebrating the stories of Global Majority members living and working in Cornwall through an intergenerational project with local schools, to raise awareness of the lives and heritage of the community in Cornwall.

Stories of Stuff

A community story gathering and sharing project in Redruth, Liskeard & Devonport

Stories of Stuff is a project and methodology developed by The Writers’ Block that sheds light on the narratives woven into our everyday objects and the places we live. From Redruth to Liskeard to Devonport, Stories of Stuff captures stories of communities as well as providing mentoring for emerging writers in the art of story gathering.

Pens, Paper, Envelopes

A intergenerational letter writing project between year 5 students from Camborne & Redruth primary schools and elderly residents at Coastline Housing.

The simple aim of this project is to share stories through intergenerational letter writing. Writers met with individuals in Coastline Housing to share stories that led to letter exchanges with children from local Primary Schools.

Women in Cornwall

We invited four KS2 classes to explore Cornwall’s influential women through song writing workshops with Angeline Morrison inspired by the Women of Cornwall exhibition at Kresen Kernow

In partnership with ASONE Students learned about notable Cornish women, wrote lyrics with Angeline, and worked with Christine Judge on music and vocals, culminating in a performance with 120 students.
