The Story Republic is an ensemble of performers with a passion for story, poetry and song with a strong Cornish flavour.  In a typical summer, the Story Republicans will perform at events and festivals, as well as part of more focussed projects and commissions. A lot of this is outdoor work. Since lockdown we have developed a lot of audio and digital storytelling.  There are also opportunities for working in early years, schools and to enhance writing, workshop and leadership skills.  Please explore our website for more information.

The Story Republic

We would like to recruit 3 or 4 performers to join the existing team.

The programme is aimed at emerging theatre performers who are interested in working in a variety of spaces from the street to galleries, castles to classrooms with a repertoire of songs, poems and short stories. You will need to be enthusiastic, at ease vocally and able to make yourself heard, keen to work in an ensemble and a strong singer. We do not perform plays nor go on tour for long periods.

You do need access to transport as some of the places are difficult to get to on public transport. This work is best suited to people living in Cornwall.

The artistic director of the Story Republic programme is writer and director Annamaria Murphy and Assistant Director Connie Crosby.  We also work with guest directors and singing leaders.

The rehearsals, training and performances are freelance paid work @ £12 an hour plus travel.  This is not a tour and the work is sporadic so we are flexible around other work commitments.

Audition Date: Tuesday 2nd June at The Writers’ Block, Cornwall College Camborne

Rehearsal Dates: June 21, 22 and 24 at Heartlands, Pool
