Volunteer with us!
DEADLINE 26 MARCH 2024

Are you a creative person with a bit of time on your hands? Are you interested in volunteering with children? The Writers’ Block is looking for volunteers to help support our children’s programme!

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for people who are happy to really get involved and help the children to get the most out of our activities.

You might be a young person or student who wants to get relevant experience on your CV, you might be a person who loves working with children, or a writer, performer or artist keen to get some workshop experience.

What you will be doing:

You will support the workshop leader by helping children with their group and individual work. You will encourage storytelling and help children complete activities. You may also scribe for children who cannot write. There will be opportunities to lead games or activities if you would like to. We are looking for volunteers for the following activities:

After School Club – Term Time Thursdays 4.15-5.30 for 7-10s
This 6 week after school club provides space for children to find their words, discover their talents and have a great time! We will guide children to create their own stories through a mixture of writing, drama and music.

Holiday clubs – 10-3pm for 6-8s or 9-11s
In the holidays, we offer multiple workshops for different age groups. For example, in February half term had Story Adventurers for 6-8s and a Drama and writing workshop for 9-11s. Most of our workshop for children and young people include drama games, storytelling, writing and then either craft or performance.

How to apply:

Please fill out THIS FORM if you would like to volunteer with us and we will be in touch with more information.

If you undertake any children’s volunteer activity with us, we will ask you to undertake a DBS check and ask for references.
